Dirk Nowitzki wins his first NBA Championshp last night and it couldn't have been sweeter. He and his fellow Dallas Mavs knocked off the Miami Heat on their home floor with the LeBron James watching. He'll have an agonizing wait continues for at least one more year.
He and Jason Terry, who led the Mavs with 27 points, were the two remaining players from the Dallas team that lost to Miami in the 2006 Finals. "Tonight," Terry said, "we got vindication."
Well, LeBron James did what LeBron does in big games and he'll have to wait another year to get on the bike and start from the bottom. He scored 21 points but it wasn't enough to keep Dallas fro going home with the hardware. Bosh had 19, Mario Chalmers 18 and Wade 17 for the Heat.
Congratulations to the Dallas Mavs for showing up big not only in the Finals but during the entire playoff run this year. I knew they had something special after they ran through the Lakers in four games. Nobody saw that coming. Sometimes teams are destined to be champions and this year was it for "Big D". Who would have thought it at the beginning of the season or even the playoffs that they would be the champs whe it was all said and done? They got rid of Kobe's Lakers like lunch meat and it was on. Again Congrats to the Mavs and their loyal fans!
